`play.me; A deer made a mad dash across the path. Her eyes followed it sharply, but it held no interest to her. She was out for bigger prey. Something with a musty, corpse-like smell that still radiated with the heat of living. It made her pale eyes swirl with the excitement of the hunt. Her paws were soundless as she moved over the foliage. The silence was bitter. One could almost taste it on the air. Nothing radiated from this she-wolf. No breaths were heard, no swish from her tail as it moved side to side and back again. It was like death, only quieter.
It would have been said months ago that this she-wolf was a pretty one. It was far different now. Her fur was blackened with sap and dirt that she had slept in the night before. Some thick, dried material the shade of a fall leaf was caked on her muzzle. It was presumable that it was blood. Her silver eyes were the only thing that still shone through the filth that stuck to her long coat. They glistened in the moonlight, giving her a nearly fearsome appearance. It was obvious that she wasn't in the mood for small chatter. Her body was compact, low to the ground as she stalked the prey that had come to her nose.
It was only a few steps. A few small, quick and silent steps. And there it was. A large Heevlane male. Colored black and a shade of magenta that shouldn't have been created in any form of natural spectrum of light. So clean, so fresh. But still smelling like a corpse. He had a fresh kill laying in front of him. His massive musculature maw was clamped around the neck of a large deer. His antlers made it quite difficult for the male to eat it, but he was managing. And the she-wolf wanted some herself. The next few steps alerted him. He snarled. A laughed bubbled inside of her, but she kept it down.
She launched herself at the back of his neck. Her yellowed teeth gripped his scruff viciously. He howled and bucked, trying to get her off. She was flung to the ground. Her head bounced off of a rock with a loud crack. And the blackness set in.
Sweet was unsure how long she had been unconscious, but when her eyes finally opened, the brute was gone. A groan rolled off of her tongue. The night was really setting in. In the darkness, she was almost undistinguishable from the shadows. She sighed. "Damnit. Again." She had missed the last five attempts to kill. She hadn't really eaten in weaks. And the hunger was getting to her. Her mind was spinning. She was at a lost of what to do. She wasn't the best at hunting in this condition. But it would have to suffice. She headed out to search for her next meal.
